Author Bio

Books have always been my oasis amidst a nomadic childhood spent between Sweden, Oregon, and Arizona. Nicknamed "Shahrzad the storyteller" after my middle name—a homage to Scheherazade from One Thousand and One Nights—I grew up crafting my own pockets of escapism.

My fascination with tarot cards, Wicca, horror movies, and dark musical artists like Switchblade Symphony and Sisters of Mercy naturally drew me to the thriller, mystery, and suspense aisles. I've always been captivated by stories that surprise me with unexpected twists.

Throughout university, I secretly published dozens of short stories, novellas, and novels under various pseudonyms while battling imposter syndrome. The COVID pandemic pushed me to pursue a Master of Arts in Creative Writing from the University of Hull, which I completed with Merit in January 2023. This experience taught me that writing is a practice—you can rewrite a draft twenty times and still find reason for a twenty-first.

I currently live in Vancouver, BC, with my husband and our adorable, teddy-bear-like chorkie, Freya. We love going to concerts, camping, and my guilty pleasure is watching The Circle and attending dance classes.

From this Pacific Northwest backdrop, I've launched my writing career. My debut novel, Breakaway Baby, a lighthearted story with its own twists, was inspired by my little sister's pregnancy. Currently, I'm working on a psychological thriller sparked by a stay in a curtainless Airbnb in the woods. It follows a 20-something actress who wakes up in a glass house in the forest, with no memory of how she got there.

Whether it's women's fiction or mind-bending thrillers, my goal is to take readers on an emotional ride through character-driven narratives that explore the humanity behind events. Buckle up, because some people are darker than they might appear.
